Grade Guarantee

We stand behind our methodology. Every concern is reviewed seriously.

The IGA Grade Guarantee is designed to give hobbyists, collectors, and dealers greater confidence in the grading and documentation process. If a material concern arises regarding an IGA-certified item, a formal review request can be submitted and handled through a clear, structured process. The guarantee does not mean grading is an unchangeable opinion — it means IGA is committed to reviewing potential material errors and correcting them when confirmed, as long as the original slab remains sealed, intact, and free from tampering.

Our Promise

Clear grading. Structured review. Correction when an error is confirmed.

Every grade issued by IGA is based on technical examination and a structured grading methodology. However, grading remains a technical opinion that may be reviewed when a material concern or clear discrepancy is identified.

That is why IGA provides a formal review path for its certificates, helping protect confidence in the service and ensuring that each certificate reflects the best technical assessment possible based on the available examination and information.

As long as the original slab remains sealed and intact, a review request may be submitted and handled by a qualified team according to IGA’s approved procedures. Grading is a technical opinion based on the condition of the item at the time of examination, IGA’s applicable standards, and the information available when the certificate was issued.

What Is Covered

What the guarantee covers.

The Grade Guarantee covers the review of material cases that may affect the certificate result or the accuracy of its recorded data.

Material Grade Error

If there is a clear and material grade discrepancy that requires review, the item may be submitted for re-examination. If a material error is confirmed, IGA may reissue or amend the certificate according to the updated result.

Certificate Data Error

If the certificate contains a clear error in the item’s core data — such as description, denomination, date, or identifying details — the information will be reviewed and corrected when the error is confirmed.

Designation, Notation, or Linkage Issues

If a technical designation or notation (such as a Details designation, or a note about the item’s surface or condition) was applied inaccurately, or if there is an issue linking the certificate number to its verification page or registered images, the case will be reviewed and the certificate corrected when required.

How a Review Request Works

How a review request is handled.

Guarantee requests are reviewed through clear steps to ensure each case is handled in an organized manner. Any correction or reissue is made only after formal review and confirmation of a material error according to IGA’s assessment and internal procedures.

01Step 01 — Submit

Submit the request.

Submit a review request through your account or the Contact page, including the certificate number and a clear explanation of the concern. Clear images or supporting documents should be attached where available.

02Step 02 — Review & Return

Initial review and slab return.

IGA reviews the request and the certificate data to determine whether the case qualifies for review under the Grade Guarantee. If direct examination is required, the original slab must be returned sealed and intact — any opened, broken, or tampered slab is not eligible.

03Step 03 — Examination & Decision

Examination and decision.

The item is reviewed by a qualified team, and the client is notified of the result. If a material error is confirmed, the appropriate action will be taken, such as correcting certificate data, reissuing the slab, or updating the verification page.

What Is Not Covered

What is not covered.

The Grade Guarantee does not apply to the cases below, and does not represent a promise of any specific market value, resale price, or commercial acceptance. It is subject to IGA’s official terms and conditions, and some details may vary depending on the item type, condition, selected service, or the nature of the concern being reviewed.

  • Opened, broken, or tampered slabs.
  • Any damage or change to the item after certification.
  • Natural differences in technical opinion that do not represent a clear material error.
  • Requests to increase a grade based on personal preference or unsupported comparison.
  • Items submitted with inaccurate information, cases subject to specific exclusions under IGA’s service terms, or any claim submitted outside IGA’s approved procedural or time requirements.
